Quito – "A fundamental task for communication is to start to recover the human face of migrants facing the stigmatization they suffer from". This was stated by Fides Fr. Ismael Moreno Coto SJ, known as Father Melo, on the El Salvador radio station in El Salvador, underlining the need to "define themselves as means of communication on the move, migrants, accompaniers of the processes of migrants". It is one of the reflections that emerged in the conference "Communicating is a right, to migrate as well. Dialogues to build bridges ", held yesterday 26 September in Quito, Ecuador, organized by the Latin American Association of Popular Education and Communication, to discuss the issue of migration – a phenomenon that has always been present in Latin America – and how this reality is communicated through the mass media.
