The Minister of the Green Economy, Tearii Alpha, accompanied by representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture and Lagoon Fisheries (CAPL), chaired by Yvette Temauri, and Epic Vanille representative, Laïza Vongey, presented Monday morning, the 33rd edition of the Agricultural Fair.

Innovation through processed products

This year, the theme chosen is "Fa'afaufa'a te mau hotu rau", the innovation of local products. Indeed, in the continuity of the previous fair, which rewarded during the opening day, the winners of the competition for agro-industrial innovation, this edition will ensure continuity by highlighting the processing activities of local products, which is one of the major axes of the development of agriculture. An enhancement of this sector all the more strengthened, with the participation of Maheata Banner, a recognized cook and candidate of the show "The best pastry chef", as godmother for this edition. She will participate, in particular, in the animations as well as in the overall development of the agricultural fair.

The Araceae honored

On the horticultural side, the theme chosen for the garden competition and for decoration is "les Aracées". As such, the public will be able to appreciate the cave of Aracées which will be placed at the entrance of the big top of the gardens.

Competitions, Workshops, Conferences and Installation Guide

The agricultural fair is also an opportunity to reward, through contests, the best exhibitors for their food, fruit, vegetable and farm products, the best prepared vanilla, the best honey, but also the most beautiful garden. the fair. Two other competitions will also be set up, at the initiative of the Directorate of Agriculture, with the quality competition that will reward the best organoleptic product in the category, tomato, pineapple and jam; and the transformed dishes contest which will confront the candidates on 6 themes such as dessert, preparation of vegetables, drinks, sweets, starchy foods and animal productions. For the latter, the products will be subject to the appreciation of the public who officiate as a jury.

A guide devoted to the "Course to the installation of the trades of land and sea" will also be available and searchable during the fair. It will help future project leaders in their administrative procedures to succeed in the primary sector.

With the introduction of a plan at the entrance to the fair and signage, two educational paths were set up with the support of the Directorate General of Education and Teaching (DGEE). Through a fun course focused on the 5 senses, they will allow students to understand and appreciate the agricultural wealth.

Diagnosis workshops on diseases, fruit tree grafting techniques, etc., as well as conferences on composting, soil analysis and fertilization, on vanilla, but also the cattle industry, cooking classes, games fun games for children, technical videos on coconut valorization, and many other activities will punctuate this 2018 edition.

Nearly 310 exhibitors, farmers, various archipelagos, breeders, horticulturists, artisans / masseurs, beekeepers, vanilla producers, ma'a tahiti preparers, processors, technical and regulatory information agents held by primary sector institutions , will be present to offer the public a representative panel of local productions in all their states.
