Information meeting on the reform of the vanilla sector in Huahine

The Minister of the Green Economy, Tearii Alpha, accompanied by the agents of the EPIC Vanilla of Tahiti and the president of the Interprofessional Association of the Vanilla of Tahiti, presented his proposals of reform for the vanilla sector, to the vaniculteurs of the island, Monday evening, at the town hall of Fare in Huahine.

One of the main objectives of the reform presented by the Minister is to gradually increase the production of vanilla by the installation over 3 years of new shading kits, representing a future area of ​​11 ha additional.

In order to achieve this objective of increasing vanilla production, over the long term, it was decided that it was necessary to strengthen the on-the-ground support of producers, as well as the monitoring of production, by the agents of Epic Vanilla of Tahiti

Added to this is the establishment of a Protected Denomination of Origin that aims to promote a flagship product of French Polynesia, protect it from competitors and counterfeits.

Finally, the reform also aims to develop the marketing and promotion of products derived from Tahitian vanilla.
