Le gardien Luca Zidane, 27 ans, a été contraint de quitter le stage de la sélection algérienne en Arabie Saoudite après avoir contracté une blessure aux adducteurs avec son club, Granada CF.

La fédération algérienne de football a officialisé que le joueur avait été « autorisé à quitter le stage ».

Cette défection s’ajoute à une série de forfaits touchant l’équipe : Ramy Bensebaini, Farès Chaïbi, Mohamed‑Amine Tougaï et d’autres cadres ont dû renoncer à ce rassemblement. 

Pour son deuxième appel sous le maillot des « Verts », Zidane espérait affirmer sa place dans la hiérarchie des gardiens. Sa blessure tombe donc particulièrement mal. 

En remplacement immédiat, le staff national a convoqué Zakaria Bouhalfaya (CS Constantine), gardien de 28 ans évoluant en championnat algérien. 

Cette situation contraint le sélectionneur Vladimir Petković à revoir ses plans à moins d’un mois de la Coupe d’Afrique des nations 2025, prévue fin décembre, ainsi qu’à deux matchs amicaux clés : face au Zimbabwe national football team (13 nov.) et à l’Arabie Saoudite national football team (18 nov.).
