Critical infrastructure operators (KRITIS) in the field of district heating, which are subject to the requirements introduced by the IT security law, must protect their information technology in accordance with the state of the art and can now implement this in compliance with the B3S district heating law. The document contains a procedure for risk analysis as well as a collection of safety measures to counter the identified risks. By applying the industry-specific safety standard, operators from the CRITIS district heating sector can fulfill their obligations under § 8a Abs. 1 BSI-Gesetz, appropriate organizational and to make technical arrangements for the IT security of critical infrastructures. Other companies in the industry can also implement the standard and thus increase their IT security level. Thus, outside of legal obligations, B3S district heating also makes an important contribution to increasing IT security in the industry.
