After a photo of Julieta Prandi in Brazil prompted renewed reaction about her separation from Emanuel Ortega, Sebastián Waizer, the friend who accompanied her on the trip, broke his silence and spoke about the controversy the split caused. The director, choreographer and theater producer provided new details about what the model experienced, responded to Juan Alberto Mateyko and addressed the women accused of being third parties.

Waizer gave his account in an exchange with a reporter from Puro Show. When asked about Prandi’s decision to step back from the relationship, the director was clear. “Obviously there were many conversations beforehand. The breakup is a consequence. Juli is not impulsive,” he said. Asked about the possibility of a reconciliation, he replied: “There is a conversation that could happen. I believe there should be one.”
“Obviously, after six years there is wear, crises and other issues. Getting married was a beautiful decision because they were fulfilled and very happy,” he said about possible reasons for the split. Prandi announced the separation on October 12, less than a month after the civil wedding, which took place on September 15 in San Isidro.
Agreements and accounts about the breakup
In her statement, Prandi offered some indication of why she made the decision. “Beyond the paperwork, which ultimately means nothing, each couple is a world with its own agreements and some are non-negotiable. This is all I have to say publicly on the matter,” she wrote. When the reporter asked Waizer about those agreements, the producer did not provide details. “The agreements are the ones any couple has. Julieta is now standing in life from a different place. There’s a shorter fuse, there’s more intolerance,” he explained.
When the conversation turned to reports of third parties, Waizer avoided confirming any infidelity. “You can trust your partner, but you may not trust the people who approach your partner,” he suggested. “If the contacts come from Emanuel’s ex, that can generate jealousy,” he added.
Pressed by the reporter on whether something concrete had happened, he answered: “We don’t know. It could be, it could be. Or one might not know either, but when in doubt you have to make a decision.” He returned to his friend’s position: “Juli is not regretful about anything she does because, again, she is not impulsive and she knows why she does it.”
The response to Juan Alberto Mateyko
On Sunday Juan Alberto Mateyko posted about Emanuel Ortega on his Instagram account for Ortega’s 49th birthday. In that message, the host harshly criticized Prandi for announcing the separation on social media: “You are not deserving of an official communiqué (as in the sad era of the dictatorship) for the end of a relationship with your partner, for whom you stood publicly,” he wrote.
Asked about those words, Waizer was direct: “Terrible, terrible, very harsh. Besides, I find it violent, an old-fashioned macho attitude,” he said. He also rejected Mateyko’s comparison: “Linking it to the dictatorship, Mother’s Day… I found it awful.”

For Waizer, support for the musician could have been expressed privately. “If you have a relationship with Emanuel, I send a WhatsApp and say: ‘Hey, I sympathize with you, I didn’t think what she did was right.’ Why make it public? What do you want? What do you need? That doesn’t add anything; it subtracts,” he said. About his friend’s reaction, he added: “It hurt Julieta a lot. It put her in a bad position.”
How Julieta Prandi is doing today
Toward the end of the interview, Waizer spoke about the present relationship between the presenter and the Ortega family. “They shared lunches, events and so on, always with respect. Then jealousy and territorial feelings come into play—those things happen in every family,” he said.
The director also commented on how Julieta announced the news and said he knew of her decision beforehand. “She was very much in crisis. When she did it, I was on my way to her house. I arrived and she had already done it,” he recounted. According to him, the statement followed conversations between the partners: “They had spoken beforehand. What she did was a press protocol.”

Finally, when asked how Prandi was after the trip, Waizer described the model’s state. “She is not sad, she is anxious,” he said. He asked for space for both of them: “Time, time for things to settle, for her to know where she stands and be able to speak from love, not from anger. Time for Ema as well.”
