On September 28, 2018, the winners of the initiative "New Treasures of the Republic of Latvia" – children, pupils and teachers – were congratulated in Riga Castle. Mrs. Iveta Vējone, the patroness of the project "Discovering National Treasures", thanked all those present – children, students, educators and parents as well, for the work and time that has been invested by re-discovering Latvia's national treasures. Thanks to the participants in the initiative, these newly-discovered national treasures will be preserved for future generations. "You have been the most active and most engaged in this stage of the project. With your eyes you have seen the treasures of both local and national scale. Today, the opening of the national treasures will continue for you, and everyone will have the opportunity to get to know one of the most outstanding medieval castles in Latvia – Riga Castle, "said Mrs. Iveta Vejone, addressing the winners of the initiative" Discovering the National Treasures ". The pupils of the Preschool educational institution "Zemenīte" visited the castle of Riga who visited 235 objects in the city of Jelgava during the implementation of the initiative, including other educational institutions, monuments and parks. Jelgava Secondary School No. 7c was the most active class in the middle group of Jelgava and visited 107 objects in total. In addition, most classes have taken part in this school initiative. During the last three years, most of the objects have been visited by students of Jelgava Technical School. In turn, Vircava 9th Class is the most active class in the Jelgava region during the school year, visiting 85 objects. At the end of the visit, Iveta Vējone wished: "You will continue to be as active and curious as possible! Continue to look and explore! "
