International tourist areas (ZTI): what opening of shops on Sunday?

The international tourist areas (ZTI) have a particularly important commercial offer and attractive for tourists. They allow employers to waive the ban on Sunday work.

Any retail establishment located in a ZTI can derogate from the principle of Sunday rest and its employees can work on Sundays.

ZTIs are delimited by the ministers responsible for labor, tourism and trade according to the following criteria:

international influence of the commercial, cultural or heritage offer; served by transport infrastructures of national or international importance; exceptional affluence of tourists residing outside France; significant flow of purchases by tourists residing outside France.

To date, there are 10 ZTI in Paris: Saint-Honoré-Vendôme, the Halles, the Marais, Rennes-Saint-Sulpice, St. Germain, Champs Elysees-Montaigne, Haussmann, Beaugrenelle, Palais des Congres and Montmartre.

In the province, there are 8:

Antibes, Cannes, Nice, Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes); Deauville (Calvados); La Baule-Escoublac (Loire-Atlantique); Serris-Val d'Europe (Seine and Marne).

Because it modifies the situation of the employers and the employees of the establishments concerned, the possible cancellation of the orders of creation, modification and suppression of the ZTI by the administrative court of Paris takes effect only 4 months from the date of notification of the judgment.
