The Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP) has recently published details on the new cash register software (Bofip of 4 July 2018 ), in particular on regulated measuring instruments (eg scales with integrated cash register functionality).
Mandatory since 2018 for traders and professionals subject to VAT, the secure and certified cash register software must meet the conditions of inalterability, security, storage and archiving of data.
The Bofip specifies the definition of cash register software: a computer system equipped with a feature that makes it possible to memorize and record extra-receivable payments received in return for selling goods or providing services.
It emphasizes that the administration admits a tolerance when all payments received in consideration of a sale (or provision of services) are made with the direct intermediation of a credit institution or a bank from which administration can exercise its right of communication: the taxable person is then exempted from using certified software.
The text also provides that the DGFiP supports companies in the first year of application of the new security rules.
Companies that do not have the certificate or attestation of conformity must prove their diligence to obtain this document from the publisher. The voluntary absence of a procedure makes the fine applicable.
