Cámara asks to incorporate food allergies in the Health Explicit Guarantees Plan

The Chamber of Deputies unanimously approved resolution 169, which requests President Sebastián Piñera to instruct the Ministers of Health and Finance to carry out the necessary studies to incorporate food allergies in the Explicit Health Guarantees Plan.
The resolution also calls for a public policy to support people and families affected by food allergies, as well as social awareness regarding the prevalence and implications of them.
Together with the above, it is requested to consider the possibility of carrying out an exceptional evaluation of this health problem, with the purpose of being included in the new Ges decree that will come into force in 2019.
Among the background, parliamentarians state that, at present, we do not have a public health policy that recognizes food allergy as a health problem, despite the high prevalence of the disease and growth in recent years.
They add that a food allergy represents a high economic and emotional cost for a family, since there are many aspects that must be faced in order to attack the disease.
