New York (Sep. 24/18). On September 24, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Ambassador Margarita Manjarrez, Director of Migratory, Consular Affairs and Citizen Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, participated in the meeting held by the United Kingdom against labor. forced, modern slavery and migrant trafficking.
Among the participants in this event were representatives of 100 governments and high-level delegates from non-profit organizations dedicated to safeguarding human rights. During the event, the exhibiting countries called for cooperation against labor exploitation, forced labor and against any type of trafficking in persons.
The action plans of some countries that seek to address this scourge in an adequate and effective manner were also presented.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia works constantly in the prevention of trafficking in persons and provides assistance to the victims of this crime, for which the Consulates of Colombia around the world have set up a support network for the dissemination of prevention campaigns, but above all to provide assistance to Colombians victims of this crime.
