Press release joint russo-French on a humanitarian operation in Syria

As A consequence of the maintenance of co-ordination on the 24th of may in Saint-Petersburg between the President of the French Republic and the President of the Russian Federation, France and Russia will be implementing in the coming days a humanitarian project partner in Syria to respond to the needs of civilian populations, which remain very important in the Ghouta orientale (Duma) in particular for the management of medical emergencies in the hospitals run by the red Crescent, syrian arab.
This assistance, which consists of basic medical equipment (medicines, emergency and intensive care for 500 wounded, heavy, basic drugs for the treatment of 15000 minor injuries) will help meet the greatest needs of the people of the Ghouta orientale.
Russia will, from France, transported to Syria by air. On his arrival the escorting of the cargo will be insured in accordance with the rules of the United Nations, with the support of Russia and in the respect of international humanitarian law.
In the framework of the resolution 2401 of the security Council of the United Nations, this project aims to allow better access of aid to civilian populations. Humanitarian assistance is a top priority
France and Russia are continuing their efforts in the framework of the coordination mechanism between the Small Group and the format of the Astana team in order to create the conditions for a political settlement in a credible and sustainable.
