The President of the Republic welcomes the decision announced yesterday by President Kabila not to stand for the next presidential elections, in accordance with its commitment to abide by the terms of the congolese Constitution.

France, which has consistently held to the side of the democratic Republic of the Congo, paying tribute to the action of the President Kabila for the unity and integrity of the DRC.

Alongside its partners and in particular the african Union, regional organizations and neighbouring countries, France stands ready to support the efforts of the congolese authorities to the holding, on 23 December next, an election free, transparent and inclusive.
