The President of the Republic spoke on the phone Monday, August 6 in the evening with the president of Colombia, Ivan Duque. It welcomed the successful conduct of democratic elections in colombia and has warmly congratulated the new president on the occasion of his inauguration.

The President and Emmanuel Macron recalled the commitment of France to the peace process in Colombia, and reiterated our wish to accompany the implementation of the agreement signed with the FARC.

The two Presidents expressed their determination to further strengthen the ties between France and Colombia in all fields, from security to economy, culture and the protection of biodiversity.

They agreed to continue their exchanges and to meet in the coming weeks.
