Investing in infrastructure that contribute to the greening of our transport system will help Canadians choose vehicles with low carbon emissions and demonstrates the commitment of the federal government in favour of clean technologies, and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and create jobs for the middle class.

Peter Fragiskatos, member of parliament for London North Centre, has participated today in the name of the honourable Amarjeet Sohi, minister of natural Resources of Canada, to the inauguration of a new charging station on-street electric vehicles (EVS) in London as part of the government’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create good jobs for the middle class.

Designed by FLO, a subsidiary of the company AddÉnergie (a leading north american solutions and charging for EV), the terminal of London is one of 100 new charging stations that the company will install in different cities in Canada. Specially designed to be installed at the edge of urban streets, these terminals can power and charge two EVS simultaneously.

Through the innovation Programme energy, natural Resources Canada has contributed $ 6.7 million to a large project that includes this initiative and is part of the government’s plan to make the transport sector greener by investing 182,5 million for the expansion of infrastructure for EVS and vehicles to alternative fuels.

Nearly a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions in Canada come from the transportation sector. Change our transportation system to make it cleaner and more efficient is a key element of our growth strategy of its own. The government of Canada will continue to work with the provinces and territories to the promotion of zero-emission vehicles, with the advancement of our strategy for clean energy, as well as the development of a pan-canadian framework on the clean growth and climate change, which sets out the measures to be taken to make a transition to a low-carbon future.

On September 28, 2018 — St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

The honourable Seamus O’regan, minister of Veterans affairs, on behalf of the honourable Catherine McKenna, minister of the Environment and climate Change, announced today the official opening of the satellite office of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Atlantic regional office, canadian environmental assessment Agency (the Agency), located in St. John s.

The opening of the satellite office of Newfoundland and Labrador will allow for an increased presence of the Agency in the region to achieve federal environmental assessments in the offshore area of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The satellite office will lead the process of regional evaluation of the exploratory drilling for offshore oil and gas to the east of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Agency and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador offshore petroleum board (OCTNLHE) invites the public and aboriginal groups to provide comments on the draft version of the agreement relating to the regional assessment until October 12, 2018.

The office will provide support to federal environmental assessments already underway, including the exploitation project of a Bay of the North, as well as to projects that will be proposed in the offshore area of Newfoundland and Labrador, which promotes the growth of our economy while protecting our environment.
