A gynecologist was arrested at his home in the Centro neighborhood on Sunday, accused of threatening his ex-partner’s life. He denied the allegations, claiming that she was financially extorting him in Santiago del Estero province. His defense team requested his release, arguing insufficient evidence to support the charges. The arrest followed alleged voice messages from the doctor threatening to kill his ex’s current boyfriend and then commit suicide. After the complaint, he was arrested and taken to the Prosecutor’s Office for Gender Violence. During questioning, he refused to testify, and his lawyer argued that the arrest was unjustified due to lack of solid evidence. The defense claimed the charges were based solely on the complainant’s testimony and a verbal altercation with the woman’s current partner. The lawyer plans to challenge the arrest and file a false accusation complaint. He also claimed that the ex-partner is using child support as a pressure mechanism to sever the doctor’s relationship with their six-year-old child. During a search of the doctor’s home, no weapons were found. The gynecologist remains in custody pending further investigation.
