2018. on the 28. in August the State minister Raimonds Vējonis in the Riga castle, the solemn ceremony of the work in Latvia was accredited by Uzbekistan, Austria, Turkey and the Netherlands in exceptional and authorised ambassadors.A meeting with the Republic of Uzbekistan in the extraordinary and authorized ambassador Badridinu Abidovu (H. E. Mr. Badriddin Abidov) the president welcomed the two countries ‘ bilateral political and economic cooperation dynamics of a particular, active inter-parliamentary cooperation. Uzbekistan today is Latvia’s largest trade partner in central asia and countries of trade potential has not been exhausted. The president noted that it is important to continue to build contacts in the transport sector, especially by developing the transport infrastructure and logistics of Uzbekistan in the transport of goods, as well as direct flights Tashkent – Riga. The parties expressed support for the aktīvākam of the European Union (EU) to work, both for the EU Strategy for central asia and the new EU-Uzbekistan-Depth partnership contract was concluded.During a call with the Republic of Austria extraordinary and authorized ambassador Stellu Avalloni (H. E. Ms Stella Avallone) the president noted that Latvia is interested in activating the bilateral dialogue with Austria at all levels, especially in EU matters. Stable sales turnover and the Austrian corporate investments in the manufacturing sector there is evidence that Latvia is a reliable trading partner. The president expressed support for the induced cooperation of bioeconomy, biomedicine, smart materials, smart energy and ICT. In conjunction with the Austrian presidency of the EU Council, Raimonds Vējonis pointed out that Latvia supports the Austrian priorities of the EU, in particular as regards the EU’s external border strengthening, as well as contributing to stability in the EU neighbouring regions.During the conversation with the Republic of Turkey, the extraordinary and authorized ambassador Gilsunu Erkulu (H. E. Mrs. Gülsun Erkul) the president welcomed the two countries ‘ total trade growth. It is indicative of stable economic relations development, in particular in the transport, logistics and ICT. Latvia and Turkey, linked by a common fight against terrorism and illegal migration and the restriction of chemicals. Therefore, Latvia supports the EU and Turkey reached an agreement on migration the crisis and considers that this is a good example of cooperation in the international challenge solving. Also Latvia appreciates the significant Turkish investment, taking a significant number – about 3 million refugees in their own country. During the meeting, the president reiterated Latvia’s support for Turkey’s accession to the EU in the negotiations process.In turn, during the meeting with the Kingdom of the Netherlands extraordinary and authorized ambassador Hovertu Jan Kornelisu Beilu de Vrū (H. E. Mr. Govert Jan Cornelis Bijl de Vroe) the president thanked for the Dutch contribution to the Baltic states to strengthen security – membership of NATO enlarged in the presence of (Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP)), the multiple membership of NATO airspace patrolling operation in the Baltic countries and the support of the NATO StratCom centre of excellence for work in Riga. The president welcomed the national existing co-operation, particularly noting the good cooperation in transit and logistics sectors, and expressed interest in further developing bilateral relations in the economy. Similarly, Raimonds Vējonis emphasised the close cooperation between the field of culture and education, strengthening the population, students and cultural industry contacts. The parties are convinced that the recent Dutch king Willem Alexander of the state visit will give a powerful impetus to further deepen the countries ‘ bilateral relations and cooperation between the EU and NATO.
