On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, President Raimonds Vējonis met with representatives of Saulkrasti County Council and businessmen at a regional working visit, visited the Skultes Harbor and Saulkrasti secondary school, and also discussed current issues with the youth of the region. During the meeting with Saulkrasti city council, the President of Latvia and the county City Council chairman Erwin Gravity and members of the city council discussed the current issues and challenges of the coastal municipality in order to provide the residents with the opportunity to receive high-quality services. The representatives of Saulkrasti Entrepreneurs' Association informed the President about the successful co-operation with the municipality, as well as the necessary measures to strengthen the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs in both Latvian and international markets. At the Saulkrasti Secondary School, the President met with teachers and pupils and answered questions of interest to students. While visiting the youth and youth center "Youth House", the President familiarized himself with the work of the Center and discussed with the young people the opportunities provided by the municipality to enjoy high-quality leisure time and develop their talents. At the Port of Skulte, located in the Zvejniekciems Saulkrasti area, the President familiarized himself with the activities of the port and visited two companies operating there. SIA ASK Enterprise is a company with 25 years of experience in the production of various steel and aluminum products, including the manufacture and repair of ships, yachts and boats. In its turn Skultes kartons Ltd. is a company that has been producing corrugated paper and cardboard, as well as paper and cardboard packaging products for almost 10 years. The company successfully exports its products to Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. At the end of the visit, President Raimonds Vējonis acknowledged: "Close cooperation between local governments and entrepreneurs is important for the development of the region. The initiatives implemented by the Saulkrasti municipality, by developing various infrastructure in the district, motivate entrepreneurs to invest their investments in the district, in order to provide the necessary services to the residents and guests of the municipality jointly. The companies visited today, who visited Saulkrasti, demonstrate the ability of our entrepreneurs to produce both specific and widely sought after products in high quality and in accordance with the requirements of today's consumers. "During the regional visit, Ms. Iveta Vējone met with the Saulkrasti Pensioners' Association, as well as visited the Saulkrasti Social Care House, where he met the residents and enjoyed a musical performance.
