France is a founding member of the united nations at its creation in 1945.It enjoys a permanent seat on the security Council alongside the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia and China. France is the 5th State contributor to both the united Nations regular budget as the budget of the peacekeeping operations to the peace.

France supports the reform of the uniesLes the recent crises have confirmed the centrality of the UN, but they have also reinforced the need to make the organization more efficient, and more representative of realities in the world today.Thus, France supports a vast field of reform launched by the Secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, in order to make the organization more efficient in its action, more transparent in its management and more reactive in response to crises.France defends an enlargement of the security Council in the framework of the negotiations on this issue to the general Assembly. In addition, it has proposed that in 2013 a supervision of the use of the veto in cases of mass atrocities in the form of a collective commitment and voluntary permanent members.Finally, France supports the reform of peacekeeping, initiated in 2018 by the Secretary-general for peacekeeping Operations to the peace (OMP) most efficient, well-funded, and thus more able to achieve their goals.
