The ceremony began with the Holy Mass, after which a ceremonial planting of a commemorative oak tree dedicated by Pope Francis was held.
"I thank the foresters for their daily commitment and effort put into work for our common good, which are Polish forests," Minister Henryk Kowalczyk said during the commemorative speech.
"Today's ceremony is part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence. We can not forget how important role played by foresters in the fight for free Poland "- he added.
The Minister also emphasized that Poland is in the European lead when it comes to the area of forests. They occupy nearly 30 percent. territory of the country. The vast majority are state forests, of which almost 7.6 million ha is managed by the State Forests National Forest Holding.
The organizers of the event were the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Warsaw and the Pułtusk Forest District.
