Chancellor Trujillo strengthened the bilateral relationship with Korea

New York (sep. 27/18). Foreign minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea, Kang Kyung-Wha, during his visit to New York, in the framework of the 73-second General Assembly of the United Nations. During the meeting the leaders, diplomats reviewed the main topics of the bilateral agenda, identified new areas for collaborative working and addressed multilateral issues. Colombia and south Korea maintained solid bilateral ties, enhanced by the status of Partnership of Strategic Cooperation award in 2011.

The diplomats highlighted the second anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty of Free Trade between the two countries and the commitment of Colombia to improve the trade of goods and services, including those related to creativity: Software development, media arts, fashion and video games. In addition to receiving sanitary authorization for colombian products prioritized as the pork and the avocado.

In addition, the Chancellor Trujillo stressed the hope that ongoing talks with North Korea to achieve progress towards a future of harmony and prosperity on the Korean peninsula, giving priority to denuclearization as the basis for a lasting peace.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia expressed its interest to make a diplomatic visit to Korea and arrange a date for a Presidential visit in 2019.
