Similarly, in the beginning of 2017 Frederick Benjamin Hodges personally contributed to the sending of the Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) and the Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) to Europe, including the Baltic States. Under the leadership of FB Hodges, US Land Forces in Europe have made significant contributions to the development of the NAF in Latvia , providing military support to strategic initiatives by the United States Land Force and National Armed Forces (NAF). An important achievement is the provision of NAF units' participation in the annual Allied Spirit VI, held in Hohenfels in Germany in Germany from 8 to 31 March 2017, at the annual US Naval Forces in Europe. Approximately 500 Latvian soldiers and 130 military units participated in the training, and so far the largest involvement of the NAF in training abroad.
