"Today, we can offer extensive investment opportunities not only in the traditional transport and logistics sector, but also in emerging industries, such as life sciences and green technologies," said Raimonds Vejonis. The parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing project of the Beijing Genomics Institute in the field of life sciences. During this meeting, officials discussed the possibility of starting a direct air transport between Latvia and China, as well as the creation of regular container traffic routes. Latvia is interested in certification of agricultural products, especially poultry meat. "We are pleased that Latvian businessmen will be able to restore honey exports to China. Also, the intergovernmental agreement on scientific and technological cooperation signed during the visit and the memorandum on cooperation in the field of sports are also to be welcomed. These agreements will serve as a good basis for developing closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest, "said Raimonds Vējonis. From 15 September to 20 September 2018, President Raimonds Vējonis is on a working visit to the People's Republic of China during a meeting with Chinese President Szy Dzypin and participated in the Regional Economic Forum of the World Economic Forum.
