An innovative and competitive aerospace industry plays a vital role in Canada's economic growth, as well as in creating and maintaining high-quality jobs for the middle class.

The Honorable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today announced that Transport Canada has certified Bombardier's newest business aircraft, the Global 7500 jet.

This certification certifies that Transport Canada approves the design, airworthiness limitations and operating conditions of the aircraft designed and built by Bombardier in Canada. Bombardier can now begin delivering Global 7500 to customers worldwide.

This project was extensive and required close collaboration between Transport Canada and Bombardier representatives. This is another example of the Department's ongoing commitment to work with the aerospace sector to promote growth and innovation.

Quick facts

Transport Canada oversaw and performed more than 360 hours of ground and flight testing during the certification process.

As part of this certification process, which began in May 2012, more than 100 Transport Canada employees worked on the Global 7500 project.

Transport Canada employees spent more than 100,000 hours on this certification project.

The Global 7500 aircraft outperforms any other jet business jet in the world in size and range.

In 2017, the aerospace industry made a significant contribution to the Canadian economy with more than 188,000 direct and indirect quality jobs and over $ 24.5 billion in gross domestic product.
